We believe that communication that is truly inclusive not only breaks down barriers, but also promotes participation, mutual understanding and equal opportunities in accessing knowledge.

Below we list four key points that explain why we are committed to accessibility and inclusion in all content:

As a fundamental right

Targum upholds the constitutional and universal right of the dignity of all people, having inviolable rights which are inherent to them. This human dignity means ensuring that every individual has access to information, and can understand it and express themselves on equal terms. This is why we are committed to using inclusive practices that eliminate all forms of discrimination and promote communicative equity as a fundamental principle.

Right of access to information for all people

Today, information is a fundamental asset that many people are unable to access. At Targum, we believe that everyone has the right to receive and impart information of any kind, and we work to adapt texts, speeches and content to different communicative formats, ensuring that everyone can understand the message.

We understand communication as a bridge that connects diverse realities and allows ideas, emotions and knowledge to circulate freely.

The right to spiritual development for all

Personal development is a fundamental human right and, consequently, so is spiritual development. All people are worthy of experiencing the deepest and most intimate aspects of life, which are closely linked to spirituality.

At Targum, we do not want to leave anyone out of this spiritual journey and thus we are committed, as part of our work with the community, to the respect and promotion of the right of all people to learn about, express and deepen their spirituality through accessible communication in different formats and languages. We advocate for equal access to spiritual and cultural content as another expression of respect for the dignity and freedom of each individual.

Reaching out to our neighbours

In today’s society, no one is exempt from facing difficulties of any kind; therefore, advances in accessibility not only benefit specific groups, but also contribute to the well-being of society as a whole. Targum believes that breaking down communication and language barriers allows us to draw closer to those around us (friends, colleagues, neighbours) in a natural way and to create bonds of understanding and collaboration.

We are committed not only to building a more accessible and inclusive world, but also to making sure that the message conveyed by every project we work on reaches all types of audiences clearly, faithfully and effectively, generating a real and meaningful impact.

This manifesto seeks to serve as a starting point in the work towards accessibility and inclusion for all people in society. We believe that translation and interpreting have a fundamental role to play in bringing about this change, which is why we at Targum are committed to playing an active part in this process of transformation.

Adapting texts into Easy Read formats and drafting manifestos in favour of accessibility are just some of the ways in which Targum works to promote getting messages across to as many people as possible. We believe that, through these actions, we are contributing to the development of a more empathetic and fair society which is more mindful of the value of communication as a universal right.

At Targum, we are committed to ensuring that our own content is as accessible as possible, although we are aware that we are a small organisation with dynamic content. We apologise if some of the content on this website is not fully accessible to everyone and would appreciate it if you could let us know if you have any comments.

At Targum, we consider one of the main focuses of this project to be ensuring accessibility and inclusion in all […]

[25

post-715","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-manifestos
["GET
